Kolej Matrikulasi Selangor Hosted Its First Successful Rugby 7’s KMS 2020

BANTING, Selangor – Kolej Matrikulasi Selangor are one of the most reputable institute in Klang Valley. Its ease of access has always been appealing to SPM leavers but their success in hosting their first rugby 7’s tournament will be a big pulling factor for SPM leavers.

Tournament Committee representative, Mohd Rohit bin Safuan, says that they are very happy with the tournament outcome and hope that KMS will continue to host such tournaments in the future. They have all the facilities and manpower required and it will be such a shame such resources are not being utilised every year.

The Sevens tournament consists of 56 teams all over from Under 12 Boys and Girls, Under 17 Boys, Under 19 Boys and Girls, and Open Club Category.

SK Meru took home the Under 12 Boys Cup beating SK S18 5-0 with SK Meru’s Dani Badlisyah B Aidil Khaizir nominated as Best Player Under 12.

While Under 12 Girls Cup category saw the exciting Cheeky Spartans beating PAIRC 6-0 in the finals. Kyra Nur Eeman Bt Khairul Anuar from the Cheeky Spartans nominated as the Best Player Under 12 Girls.

Royal Military College led by Coach Saiful managed to win the Under 17 Boys Cup beating KUPSIS with a respectable scoreline 24-0. Muhd Asyraaf bin Azahari from RMC nominated as the Best Player Under 17 Boys.

While Under 19 Boys Cup category saw UiTM Lions nominated as champions and Tumeric RC as first runner up. Tournament Hosts KMS3 managed to become the first runner up in the Under 19 Girls Cup Category after losing to the Musketeers in the Cup Final. Musketeer’s Nurul Ain Bt Mohd Zamri nominated as the Best Player Under 19 Girls.

This inaugural edition managed to attract 8 local clubs to compete in the Open Club Category. The Cup category saw SKIRA Eagles crowned as champions after beating KRS XX in the final.
