SMS Old Boys Crowned Salam Alumni 10s Title

SM Sains Selangor Old Boys (SMSOB) has been crowned the champion of the 2019 Salam Alumni 10s IX Edition as reported here. It was a display of great dominance from the Kuala Lumpur school especially on the second day as they scored 2 tries in each match en route to the title.

2 wins out of 2 from the day 1 saw SMSOB topped group F. They struggle in the first match but a single try was enough as they overcame OGA of SMK King George V from Negeri Sembilan 5 – 0 in the first game. SBPI Jempol unable to stop SMSOB as they went down 7 – 14 in the second game.

That put them as the 5th rank team as they prepared for the knockout round. SMSOB was certainly a much prepared team. They scored 2 tries to beat SDAR in the second quarter-final.

SMSOB met SM Sains Hulu Selangor Alumni (ASHURA) in the semi-final. They match the expectation when both teams fancy their chance but it was SMSOB who took their chance and advance to the semi-final with 14 – 5 win.

The Royal Military College Alumni (OPA) advance to the final as they fought hard passed INTEGOMB (10 – 7), before they narrowly beaten ASAS of Sekolah Sultan Alam Shah 14 – 12 in the semi-final. OPA topped the Pool A with 5 points from 1 win and a draw. They beat SM Sains Kota Tinggi (SAKROBA) 29 – 5 in the tournament opening match before drew 5 – 5 with MCOBA of Malay College Kuala Kangsar.

It was the day to remember for the SMS Old Boys as they take full advantage of their chance and beat OPA 12 – 0 in the final match.

SMS Selangor Alumni Association Presiden, Captain Aidil Ahmad Sham and Talhah bin Mohd Azman (OPA Team Manager) presented the medal and trophy to the winner.

24 Alumni team from rugby school all over Malaysia took part in the first tournament for 2019 in Malaysia. The tournament took place at SMK Kelana Jaya.
