Ireland has been hit with another problem after centre Robbie Henshaw has injured his hamstring just a few days before Ireland opening game against their 6 Nations rival Scotland. Robbie Henshaw now joined the Ireland injury bench with wing Keith Earls – knee injury and fullback Rob Kearney – calf injury.
It’s very apparennt that Joe Schmidt Ireland’s coach preferred Robbie Henshaw and Bundee Aki as his main centre pair. This pairing also has shown some incredible result after beating Wales during the Rugby World Cup warm-up game thus propelling Ireland to the world Number 1 ranking at the moment.
With Bundee Aki most probably will be selected as inside-centre so the real question now is who will wear the 13 jersey. Two names have been linked with the empty position, Chris Farrell and Garry Ringrose. Both players have been great for their club in Guinness Pro 14 and also have taste international caps with Ireland. Chris Farrell offers more physicality in the outside centre centre albeit his natural position as inside-centre and Garry Ringrose more to a natural centre that often linked with the outside back.
Don’t miss to watch Ireland opening game against Scotland at International Stadium Yokohama this Sunday 22 Sep.
